    Is this actually known? As far as I’m aware, we still can’t know what colours an animal sported based solely on fossilized remains. Fascinating article, though. There’s so much left to be discovered, and it’s nice to be reminded that we don’t know nearly as much about our planet as we often think.

      Yes actually – well fossilised feathers show melanosomes, and by examining the shape of these it is possible to determine the colour of the feathers. Pretty fascinating stuff!
